Hi I've posted some images in the WIP section of the current project I'm working on. I'm having a really hard time trying to get the right amount of light in my scene.

Right now I have an Area light as my key light, 2 directional lights as my fill lights and 1 directional light as my back light.

Someone suggested using "Daylight" but Maya doesn't have that.

Am i applying the wrong technique?

There is no "Daylight" in Maya, maybe he meant "Skylight" known in Brazil or Final Render for Max.
Try using a big sphere with a surface shader and enable Final Gatering to get that look.
