View Full Version : Probs with display of Max4's BLEND material, any advice.

Has anyone experianced probs with the blend material in Max 4.0/4.2. The thing is it won't display maps unless they are in slot1 and it won't display maps in the mask channel at all.
It's never been an issue in 3.1 so seems kinda unusual.

You need to specify which material is 'interactive' in the root of the blend material.
Yeh - it's a really pain in the arse :mad:
I tend to put instances of the Mask..etc in any free map slots in Material 1 and disable them. You can then check "show in viewports" and any changes you make will obviously be mirrored in the original. Annoying (especially on nested Blend Mats), but it works.

I'm finding it really unpredictable, if I've got a material instanced from elsewhere in the mat library I can turn it on and off from the instance but not in the blend material.
Clicking the interactive button does kinda work but although the mats turn on they won't turn off again. You dont even need to press the interactive button in 3.1.
The mask mat disabled in the mat1 slot is a good idea though.
Think I'll just stick to using 3.1 until I get to the animation stage.
