View Full Version : Scene : Tokyo street travelling (NPR)
Here's a post-prod effect i did, targetting short render times with something visually bold.
The lighting is a simple spotlight dome (around 20 lights, shadow maps are cached)...
'did some video post afterward, zbuffer-based-dof & color corrections.

The animation is here (MPEG) (http://fra.planet-d.net/pocket/COMP_01.MPG)
Hope you will enjoy :)

very nice, but its not npr
[edit]
just looking at the anim - because of the amount of DOF, it does give a slight npr feeling

Oh, sorry. It's non-photorealistic to me, read it doesn't tend to mimic reality. I just wanted to prevent people looking for pure realism from being disapointed by this thread :P
I admit, it's not properly 'toon shaded', may be is that what you mean ? If yes, i always though that toon shading was just one of MANY np-rendering techniques...
thanks for the comments, however, and this interesting remark.

really nice stuff! looks like you met your aims as far as visually bold. how about render times? what did you do your post production work in?
i can just see your yellow robot walking down that street. the yellow would set off nicely against all those blue shadows.
very interresting experiment. I'd like to see an anim (I mean something else than a turnaround ;) ) in this style.
Keep it up!
nice rendering as usual mr LowPolyAndManyLights
what about a real travelling?
Were you drunk when you tuned the blur? This is no longer Zdepth we got here, we can call that "optical inability to focus", also called "wine problem" ;)
Anyway, like the mood of it. santé! euh... kampaï (autant rester dans le sujet)?
keep goin'

Very nice render.
I like very much the light, but i think that the high DOF makes a little hard to see "the rest"
Keep it up!!
