View Full Version : How to Drive Points on Spline

Sorry for all the questions lately. I appreciate all who take the time to answer!

I'm using a spline defomer and want to drive specific points on it with a bone rotation. I can drive the spline as a whole but how do I access particular points to drive them?

Thanks again...

With Nulls? I have file that exactly does that. I think i got it in the last few days. Give me a mailadress and i send it to you. I don't know how to ask to post this so i'll better do it that way.

Please guys. Include some reference to your names in files. Its so hard to keep track of the respective owners if a file has no name :(

Cheers Siddhy

OK. One more question...

What's the easiest way to place a null on a particular point?

don't know if it is the "easiest" way but it is a way I guess (I just felt like having a play with that point node), and it only took a minute or so to set up.

Thanks! I'll check it out when I get home.

As you know, I started playing around with this the other day, then I downloaded some movies from the Preohect:messiah site and they were demonstrating what they call Flex, which looked an awful lot like Cinema's Spline deformer, albeit more refined.

Got soeminteresting things over there. Nothing, to me anyway, that Cinema can't do...just a little easier.

I felt like playing, I've taken this a bit further, you'll note in the Xpresso tag I've built in a switch. Switched one way it'll work like the last file, switch it the other way and you can now move the nulls and the point it is assigned to will follow.

Cheers.

Great! I can't wait to give it a look.

I really don't have the head most of the time for Xpresso although it's much easier to work with than COFFEE espressions.

I usually come up with some weird idea and see who can "Xpress" it!

That's kind of it, but I can't move the nulls you placed. Actually, I'm using the spline deformer to move points on a mesh. Once again, trying to simulate muscle movement, without bones.

I should just listen to everyone and just use bones, I guess.

in the Xpresso "tag" you should find a switch, depending on which way it is switched you can either move the nulls or the points, might be worth noting though you can't move the nulls in point mode

cheers

Edit: oh and yes bones might be easier.
:)
