got a little contract job making two characters for an upcoming product ...
now.. i personally have never been a character person.. i feel much more at home making cars, trucks, tanks, etc.
but they wanted 'me' (im unsure if this is a blessing or a curse ATM :) ) i wanted to pass this off to a friend who is more skilled at this.. but he passed on the price.
... i spent the weekend watching band of brothers, eating pizza and i came up with this guy. i used an old low poly character from Beroc in the background layer to get my proportions down (thanks B !!! :) )
anyhoo ... on to the wips - located below is a small snap followed by a link to a bigger pic
a little mesh info -
2850 traingles (3k cap) non-sectioned mesh. most parts are part of the body... canteens, grenades, shovel, etc... are seperate pieces. skin will be 1024@32bit.
front (no snapshot)

feedback in wanted .. but i also have a question for the character experts.
- this model has most stuff on his ammo belt connected to the body .. is this how you do it ??? or should i rip them off. if they are seperated, do they need to be closed (back faces) ? i think this has more to do with the engine. will these ammo packs and whatnot distort when he runs/jumps/etc. ??? is there a work around ?
still messing with the jacket collar ... its buttoned up nice and tight now, but ill mess with getting it more open and loose.
unwrapping and skinning will come later ... unwrapping this is mucho more complex then a car or something... im still tossing different ideas around.
