Hi all

I envisioned the Swift fighter as a small, light and fast scout plane, with emphasis on the fast. I wanted the design to say speed and velocity, to look like it could go at high speeds. The design was inspired by watching sparrows in flight, and the production model simply means that this Swift just rolled out of the factory, without any paint jobs.

So these are the 'clean' renders as these Swifts are just brand new and haven't seen any action. If time allows I might do another Swift that has camo colours and dirty combat textures.

Done in Max 5, faked radiosity.

i think the angle of the front wings have to be much sharper. Maybe some more detail on the purple body work??? try to make the shapes a lil smoother... keep it up dude!!

hey,

cool, i like the black version more!! but one thing: a black color does not make a plane/vehicle stealth... try to facet the bodywork or someting like that (search some pics or stuff)
Does the swift have some kind of weapons too? well keep me updated!!!!!

I've finally redone the Swifts. Tweaked the materials a bit and swept the wings back. C&Cs?

I wasnt too crazy about it when I saw the first Render but when I saw a couple more renders it started to grow on me. The black one looks nice. I would love to see like a desert/jungle camo look with like the teeth and two eyes on the front If ya know what I mean. Your design is good but there is a couple of things that bug me. The front wing looks like a seperate piece from the fuselage. From the side view your jet engine looks a bit large for the plane and it doesn't have eny were to pull air from. Some intakes for it to the side or bottum might look nice.the only other thing is... how does the landing gear work? Do they roll or does it land like a harrier jet? Your textures look great and the cockpit looks pretty detailed from what I can see. The swept back wings looks great too.

Thanks Lu!

Yea, I realized that the design wasn't really scientifically sound. It was just a simple little thumbnail I had that got worked up into this. There are no intakes and the landing gear's supposed to work like a Harrier. I realize that there are no other engines to support that but I thought; heck it's sci-fi, the advanced tech will make it work :P kidding.

From those little things that came up later I learnt from this model and will do better for the next one.

Oh yes I know what you mean by the tiger eyes. I was thinking of doing one textured like that too :D

I agree, you need some intakes. The thing that struck me more, however, was that the balance is off. The wings in front of the elevators design is the way planes have always been built, based on the idea that birds are the best model. There are many designs now that place the elevators before the wings. I think these are more efficient for faster craft and more maneuverability (which it looks like you're shooting for). Oh yeah, if they're fighters, what sort of payload/weapons do they have and where do they store it? Underwing mounts will throw the balance even more so you might need something else (lasers or something seem possible with the design). Take it for whatever it's worth. The renders look great, though. Very clean texturing and smooth lines.
