I've been trying out Boujou for a while now, and I can't figure out what's wrong with it (or me, for that matter)

Let's say I have a 5 sec scene, shot on dv, and imported into boujou...I can track everything great, and all the point in the scene looks like they follow the terrain or the objects in the movie really well...! NOW, to the problem - When i import a primitive in boujou, it will appear upside down!! That's weird...And, when i import a maxscript to 3dsmax 4.2, the the objects i put in the scene will appear weird, it's like the coordinate system is aaal fu*ked up...

Any suggestions?

Just to mention - I get the same problem when tracking with the app called ICARUS (pretty much the same as boujou)

Plz, help me, Thanks / T

you must tell boujou to use same type of coordinate system like 3dsmax. see the help files and tutorials that come whith program and you should do fine

Ok, that's alway something, BUT, I don't get the tutorials at all...they are pintless to me, or maybe i'm to hopeless to understand...

I'll give it a shot anyways...Thanks

- are you sure you set the axes to be like those in 3D max (Z up & Y forward) from preferences in boujou.

- Did you describe the geometry in boujou ? i.e telling the software whic points are ground & which are walls... etc.

- are you sure you choosed the right configuration option for the imported shot.. i.e a free move or a nodal pan .

- are you sure you don't have to do any optical compensation.. are straight lines really straight ?

- the last thing I wanna say is that boujou doesn't do all the job.. some sleight of hand is required... I'm a beginner to the program too & I used to think "automatic tracking" do all the job.

achilles81 - I'll look into this asap. As I probably mentioned: I have barely used boujou, though I wanna get more into it...I, me, myself doesn't have time right now though...

But it kicks ass - yees it does...

now how does one do that....i went thru the tuts couple of times and my science sense is pretty bad.........tho i understand that it is important to define the co-ordinate system in bojou so that we get a similar grid in max.....the big ? is how does one do that.....

lets say u got a shot of ur pc table.......3/4th perspective......and am generally moving left to right.........how do i define the co-ordinates now.....

any help???
thanks!!!
cheers!!!

I'm not so good at that & still have many similar problems, but for the example mentioned above I would describe the table surface to be my ground plane, the XY plane, where table lenght & width are X & Y.

k, some shameless advertising: i recently bought Syntheyes, it's a new tracker and it's blazingly fast and is able to track shots that boujou has some problems with. Also take a look at the price.

I worked with both and I must say that Syntheyes works way better for me, especially on DV-shots which are a bit trickier to track from the compression, here's a link : SynthEyes (http://www.ssontech.com/)
