View Full Version : I'm trying to do my first walk cycle...question
I'm doing my first walk cycle and got probably stupid question but... In speed session there is rule that character should not move across screen and should walk in place. So I should key my feet to slide back?

yes
ok. Another quiestion... I can't get this all frame thing. I mean in some tutorials there every stride is one keyframe. In some every stride is every 6keyframes. I lost. I know that when keyframes will be close to each other I will have faster motion. Is there any rule for this? Maybe contact strides should be every 12 frames or something?

you are going about this the wrong way. There are no set numbers for walkcycles , and I'd just avoid the tutorials that are on the net , cause they are horrible.
do this:
get a stop watch from radioshack and time yourself and other people walking , time diffrent kinda walks and you'll find your numbers.
ok but 1 second will be what? 4frames? 10frames?

1 sec=25 frames for PAL
1 sec=30 for NTSC
for net use whichever u fancy, just make sure u check the frame rate when u render out.

like gru said 24 or 30 , a normal walk is around 34 frames under 24 fps based on the average of my timings , but thats by no means a set number , use what works for you.
