An old idea of mine revamped. Photoshop 7. Trying for a bit more texture in my digital 2d work, like Craig and some others you know... :) Or if you don't know, check out his and Wassup's stuff in the Speedpaint thread at Sijun.com

Great stuff as usual, I love the translucency on the wings.
Lots of action! very dynamic painting.

Impressive picture.
His wing in the foreground looks like it's got another shape than the one further back in the picture. Might be just me.
Great work. i didn't expext anything else of ya though :D

Love the lighting in this piece, Stahlberg. Great composition, although I might throw the whole piece on a slight angle with the horizon for a more dramatic effect. The semi-transparent wings are so cool!

Excellent work man!
Is there going to be a 3D version of this one???

Stahlberg

Thanks! No, I don't think this one will make it into 3d, not right now anyway. But I never completely throw anything away, so who knows in the future?

Well, I have to say, you certainly achieved more texture to this piece, great work! What brushes do you use for this?

Great work.
I assume she's sitting on a seat attached to the gun, otherwise she would be falling backwards?
You might want to give a hint of a seat there because on my (dark) monitor I couldn't really tell if there is a seat, even after staring a that part of the picture for at least 15 minutes ;)

Good morning all! :)
The brush is using one of the default textures, then I just switched on slight randomization for almost every paramter, except the one controlled by the pen-pressure (opacity).

She's not sitting on a seat, she has her right leg extended almost straight down, also the weight of the projector keeps her balanced - for now. Maybe she falls over in the next few seconds, who knows. :) But I know, my pics often look too dark on some monitors, sorry. I guess my monitor is just brighter than some...

I'm thinking about turning her head toward us, like she's avoiding looking at the blinding light. I don't know... I'd prefer to see her face, and some emotion. I think this image lacks emotion. The light/shadow on her leg, arm and ground behind her aren't right either. If I have time there'll be an update soon, fixing the wing issue as well.

Gorgeous work Steven!

My one crit is....despite how cool the semi-transparent wing is, I'm missing some skeletal structure. I'm sure there's a large, augmented bone in the leading edge, but it's not apparent how the rest of the wing is supported, if you know what I mean?

I agree that seeing more of her face would be a good thing.

The tubes coming out of the cannon might droop slightly more due to gravity, but then again they could be under some tension from their source.

Great lighting and colour :)

Just wondering how long the entire process took to completion? Could you put up a basic description of your steps like if you used thumbnails or not?
