Here is a tank model I started yesterday. My goal polycount was 2000, and I came in 17 over that goal. I am laying out UV's right now and then I will start texturing it. I am using Maya 5 and Photoshop 6. Any comments or suggestions would be welcome.

Wath those triangle fans on the cylinders...check the sticked tips and tricks thread in this forum on how to efficiently triangulate a cylinder cap...

Here is a quick update. I started texturing the hull and the wheels.

wow! the model looks great, but your texture is a little on the, well, green side :D try lowering your saturation some, maybe adding a smidge of blue and red - it should help it to look more realistic. nice work!

Im quite sure the polycount you have is not triangulated, i have done a few tanks and i am certain its not 2000 triangles.

No you are right its Quads, sorry if that was not clear.

Thats for the suggestion, I agree it's very green. I also plan on making the texture a little more worn and dirty.

I think I have the hull pretty much done, so I figured I would post a quick update.

Good progress, but it's not dirty enough yet. :P

green diffuse, green foreground, green background!! argggg I'm seein green. Try using a standard grey background and possibly foreground. It'll help determine if your tank colors are too saturated or not. Right now all the greens are blending together in our brains and aren't protraying the true color.

looks good otherwise!

Try using a standard grey background and possibly foreground.

Done, I replaced the the images with a new background and foreground.

I figured I would post the texture sheets that I created for the tank. The top two textures of the hull and the turret are 1024x1024. The bottom two are the barrel and the tracks, they are both 512x512. I guess that's it, on to the next project.
