View Full Version : Green Bug Eyed Alien and his.. SEX MACHINE!?!?
MasterZap 07-04-2002, 11:13 AM This is a character animation test I did for a particular reason. I did it quickly so I am aware it needs tweaking, but, heck, you guys might enjoy it anyway.
It's about passion meets technology. No wait, it's about why doing a backflip makes robots take notice of you. No wait it's... och heck, watch the animation (6 meg .ASF file) by clicking HERE!

Myself I mostly like how the robot sneaks up behind, kinda indifferent, and then kinda joins in. But hey, I'm partial :)

Well at lest it's a little fun, which is the idea. I am not claiming its a masterpiece... I was really just testing Character studio (the alien) vs. Max bones (the robot)

That was really cute. I think that it was innovative and a good study for you. It was comical. I didn't like the voice on the alien. I thought it was a bit wierd. I also would have liked to see the mouth with more detail and the motions a bit more fluid. But over all it was really good.:buttrock:

It was, it is really the 1st serious attempt (and still just an *attempt*) at character animation.
It was comical. I didn't like the voice on the alien.
Oh my, it's my voice. OK so it's pitched up half an octave but it's still me :)
The whole thing grew out of a lame lipsync test.
Frankly, I moved the lips (and yeah they are ugly, ha ha, never itnended to be otherwise) first just to play around with the very few lip-shapes I did (6 shapes whipped up in about 30 seconds each) to see which combo-shapes I could come up with.
Out of dumb luck, it "looked" as if it was saying "Hey baby". So I recorded some lame talk just by grabbing the mic and "lets say something" beginning with "hey baby", trying to match the animation (talk about backwards "lipsync" :) ) and then added some more talk at the end to which I later added more "lipsync"....
....and then I made 2 small moves which happened to look like dancing... and I was like.. hmm okay, should I make him dance? Okay... lets add some music then.. I slapped on a soundtrack... 1st I could think off... and started moving it around..... and... uh... the rest is "history" :)
I thought it was a bit wierd. I also would have liked to see the mouth with more detail and the motions a bit more fluid.
I agree, the mouth is a mangled torus which is not attached to the body, although I was going for the "cartoon" look so thats kinda okay. (Could have went for a black background in the mouth at least, lazy me ... *heh* )
Motions are okay at some points and really unatural at some... the backflip sucks, but the pirouette works very well.
But over all it was really good
Well it was just a test that happened to be fun, I aint claiming it is "good" in any way compared to most stuff posted here... but I do think it has a little amusing "somethign" in there. I dunno....

I think that it is allways nice to see tests. It helps everybody and is the most beneficial for learning.
