i'm currently making a drumset and all of the stands,(snare, cymbol, rack, ect.) are a nice shiny reflective chrome. for the life of me i've tried to make a shader to match that description but only come out with a glossy grey shader. can anyone help?

It has to reflect the environment to look real. If you have a full environment with lots of stuff to reflect turn on raytracing. Otherwise use an environment map as reflection.
At Highend3d there is a metal preset with chrome among others.
Its always a good start to dissect other shaders to understand the settings needed for a certain effect.
