Cutting edge games are evolving beyond the need for simple texture maps with the occasional alpha channel in order to be competitive. Naughty Dog is looking for an artist/scientist with an extensive and varied experience in digital FX industry or with advanced PC graphics cards. Four years minimum industry experience, including but not limited to Maya’s Hypershade editor, is required. This full time, in-house position works closely with programmers or technical artists in order to create our future texture pipeline and methodologies with sophisticated, layered shaders using a variety of approaches like normal, environment, displacement and procedural maps, among other more advanced texturing principles. But to do so, extensive knowledge of modeling and lighting will be essential for optimal results. Candidates should expect to take a test in Maya. Submitted portfolios must include samples of professional work, examples of layered shaders and their individual components, and their final application, as Maya files for better assessment. Please include an exact breakdown of your specific contribution to the material submitted along with resume featuring references.
