for some reason the points don't line up between the red and the yellow on this image, I want them to be on the same level, hope you understand me so basically the top point in red i want to have exactly as if i slid the yellow out of it, kind of like copy and paste and just dragging to the side, but i want to do them all at once is this possible ? and i don't want to weld or anything else i want to select them all and use the same xyz coordinates for the points in yellow that are on the right. Is this possible ?

Cant you just select the points and zero them out on the axis you want? Or just copy paste the pos numbers for one of the points to the other and just slide it on the axis you want? I dont think you can do them all at once.

Right click - set value

i created 2 simple shapes and moved some points around on one of them then i copied the z position and selected all the points on the other object set value setting the z value to what the z value was on the other object and it also won't work

If there are two different objects involved you should make sure that the Z-value (for instance) gets set relative to the world coordinate system (not object coordinates in other words).

thanks everybody but i tried the suggestions and it still won't work here is an example. I want to set the points in red on the left image to be exact as on the right image 2nd shape so I want basically to make the points on the right image that are in red to be on the same xyz as the ones on the left that are in red
i've attached the example file if someone would be so kind to help
thanks !

Is this anything like what you are trying to achieve?

crash-tx yes that's what i want to do in this example although my car has many more points to line up. Did you use set value ?

Nope... I turned my snap settings to 3D>point, Moved the points individually to it's neighbor, then with a loop-selection, I selected them all at once and scooted them back a little on the face plane.

HOWEVER: In the picture you posted, you were dealing with points within the same object. In the model you sent, I was dealing with two objects (thus- no merging took place.)

To get what your looking for within one object, you may consider welding the points together> select the relative polygons> and take the old KNIFE to 'em> then delete the thin little polygons you created at the edge.

Hope this helps.

i still can't do it.. does it have to be one point at a time ? i'm looking for a way to do them all at once

Hate to just throw you toward yet another plugin, but Stitch & Sew... I think?

Misread the question, reply deleted.

New reply: use Snap.

Thinking more about what you are trying to achieve, it may be easier to delete the polygon sections you are trying to align alltogether. At one edge adjacent to the deleted polygons, select edges> create a spline. At the edge of the polygons you are aligning to, select edges> create a spline> Loft the two splines> move desired edge points> connect the lofted mesh to desired polygons

Hope this streamlines things!

I still fail to understand what on earth you have to do. If you have to move a point use the coordinates manager, if you have to move a bunch of points to the same height, depth, length use the right click > set value, otherwise you can use the structure manager too.

hope this can explain better. I have my car and it's divided into different sections in this case I have the back part (bumper) and the front part (door). I want the point in red I have selected on the door piece to be exactly in the same spot as the point I select on the bumper piece, i tried by eye and they are almost there, but i have a lot of points and it takes a long time to do it. If i try using set value and put in the coordinates for the bumper point on the door point, the point moves way off i tried in world mode also and just won't work. Also as you can see, the values are so different but the points are so close to each other ?
Hope there is a faster way thanks !

Set both the door and bumper to world corordinates... in the coordinate manager the drop down menu (it is currently set to object). then you can copy and paste and they will line up exactly.
