just wondering what the average poly count would be for the following models, for use in an xbox, game cube etc. game. nothing to technical, 'ball park' figure would do just fine.

1) large animal (ie. hippo)

2) vehicle

3) main character

It depends on what kind of game. If it's some kids game, it would most likely be rather low.

Hippo: 4000
Vehicle: 4000 (But some people, and some games like to get really detailed. I've seen some in-game models going upwards to the 10K range. Not really necessary though.)
Main Character: 4000 for body, 2000 for head.

It all depends on the type of game, the engine, the scene.

Edit: 2000 for head is being completely generous with poly. I'd really keep every model under 4000. A lot of games are pushing it now, but to be honest it's not necessary.

Yeah ive seen some amzing models just in the 2000-3000 range, i dont really see the need to start getting into the 10ks for just regular people, maybee monters though :)
