Nevermind Johnny Depp, Lets pray its not Jerry "kaboom" Bruckheimer who makes the movie.
The sequeal sounds good though. And whats this I hear about a Soul Calibur movie? Real life Astaroth? Sounds cool.

How good can movies from videogames be?? I once heard Jean Claud van Damme comment on the emotional awareness of the character Guille he played in Streetfighter. Dude, you're talking about a bunch of pixels!!!

There are good and bad games, just like there are good and bad films. The Longest Journey has one of the best story, characters..etc in video games--one that rivals any good film. But of course the movie studios rather turn something brainless like Street Fighter into a movie, and ignore games with great stories and characters.

I stand corrected. You're right, there are games with good plotlines and making a film out of them is just as sensible as making a film out of a good book. Shame they flood us with the brainless stuff then.

I haven't seen a good movie yet coming out of a game. Even though the scenario for Sands Of Time was decent enough, i wonder if we'll see him walking on walls in the movie. :curious:
Some things are meant for games only.

I know there must be some, but just off the top of my head I can't think of any right now.
Can anyone name a good movie that came from a video game? (Resident Evil, while enjoyable was more like a B-movie horror flick - fun if you are in the right mood)

Sadly, outside the world of of anime (and even then), the only movie even worth mentioning would be Final Fantasy. Now isn't that sad?

I thought flying scenes in Crounching Tiger, Hidden Dragon incredible!!! Many people tought that was ridiculous, cause we donīt usually fly around.
In fact these scenes were amazing, they created another reality,
you were invited to spy their world.
If they work the plot, I think it has a great chance to be a hit.
As for Pirates of Caribbean, the effects were great, but the movie....

Most of them were really horrible. The Mortal Kombat was quite amusing for a little while because you got to see the real life versions of the game and all. Offcourse the story sucked big time.
I dont think Soul calibur will be much better in that respect, it will just be cool to see the characters in a real life action movie. Its kinda like movies with cg dino's. Great to look at even if the story sucks.

I'm more excited about the sequel. I loved the sands of time.
I actually quite enjoyed the first Mortal Kombat movie but I can't think of that many Game>Movie successes. Even Mario with it's huge budget and fairl competent cast it was still pretty terrible.

I'm really starting to get pised with Prince of persia, I'm at the part where the chick it shooting arrows at dead guys. I've been fighting these guys forever, but apparently they keep coming!!! Any tips before I decide I hate this game forever? Also, a stupid light appears in the center of the water thing. I tried putting the dagger there, but it doesn't do anything, and the stupid dead guys just keep coming.
A thing I dislike about the game is the figting controls. It doesn't do what you want it to and it rolls right into the enemies when you tell it to roll away.

AlbertArt: you do stab them with the knife after they fall down, don't you? The guys that don't carry long axes, can easily be defeated with the move that jumps over their head and stabbs them in the back. In some rooms you can also try to drink water and revive your strength if they let you be for few seconds.

Thats what I've been doing, seriously this time its never ending, and the main Ememy guy is always blocking everything I do! He's always surrounded by his henchmen, so I can never spend time attacking him, rather the 6 guy around him. There must be a catch or something at this part in the game but i don't know what it is.

You know you can put your sword away, drink some water to boost your health and then start fighting again ? Also make sure you know how to block I didn't work it out until half way through the game and it would have made the whole thing a lot simpler.
I love the level design and platform game style puzzles but you're right the fighting bits can get very frustrating at times.
I'd love it if the movie was in the style of those old Sinbad films. Those Harryhausen stop motion effects were amazing.
