View Full Version : Beast of Burden - Character- JT
Hello everyone, this challenge seems fun, so here i am ! :)
Here is a quick sketch, it's a first thought, the final model might be different.
The beast is going to be a sort of "alien camel" whose duty is to save people from dying of thirst in the desert.
By the way, have you ever done a camel ride ? If you haven't you must try it, it's the most relaxing stuff on earth, almost better than sex !! When i did i even wanted to exchange my girlfriend for a camel and go and move with the nomads, sadly she didn't agree.... (selfish girl i'm telling you !! ;) )

It's your own fault really.
You should have talked it over (read: closed a deal :deal: ) with the nomads FIRST. Then go back and explain things to the girlfriend. :p
It would have gone much better that way.

He he, I like you style. The cartoon style. But you say it will looks like a camel, but to me it looks like a goat ( I hope I spell it good). But I really like your style. Keep on going.

Kooky and well modelled! (When was the last time you ever said "Kooky"? Is that how it's spelled?) :)

Thanks for the comments ! :)
OZ : Are u on drugs ? anyway thanks :)
Dmonk : Thanks, but i still don't exactly know for the body.
Sherban : Yes next time i go to tunisia or maroco, believe me i'll have a plan !! ("please put a mini skirt on darling, we're going for a camel ride" ... ) ;-)
Mr nice guy : You're right, i just looked at a camel picture and my beast looks nothing like it at all, but i wanted to capture the same "dumb" look of it. (just look at a camel's face, it's so relaxing .....)
Stereo : Thanks, the fun above all. :)
Erillaz : I don't know what kooky means but it sounds good. :p
TheSEL : I plan to post more updates this week-end, it's just that sometimes i have a very annoying stuff to do : work ! :)
An update, added a few details on the face, now i'll move to the body.
love the head JT, full of character. You just gotta have something comming out of nostrils like those!!!!!
The body !
and still the modelling process here : http://mapage.noos.fr/jtromeur01/beastofburden/beastprocess.htm
Now we know why this beast can pull very heavy weights : because of his butt muscles !! :) Dumb beast but strong beast !

hey, great idea for a BoB!
I however think you should round of some corners (especially on the toes/fingers/ears) they look a bit "cubic" right now. maybe you've already thought about those things, or maybe you wan't it that way, just wanted you to hear my opinion :)
great work so far though, and funny concept!

That model comes out well! It's funny, but almost creepy. It resembles a sort of Disneyed-up H.P. Lovecraft creature! :hmm:
That description either made perfect sense, or I'm really tired!:surprised
Fellah, yes it does look a bit "cubic" cause i'm experimenting with the "quad output" meshsmooth technique, i'll probably lower it down. :)
Erillaz, yes i guess i'd think it's a creepy beast in real life, right now i'm amusing myself a lot building it up ! :-)
cute~cute~cute~your model is cute!pretty good work!IT's your style as your thumbnail !

Rex : thanks, i like the word cute. :)
Daxx : yes big ass and big nose :) i often do big noses, what could a shrink say about that ?
RonGriswold : Thanks, you people must see a lot of great 3D everyday so your comment is touching, and who knows maybe i'll animate it with project messiah one day... ;-)
Here comes this week's update, i'm definitly super slow, i blame it on the sun, i just had to go to the beach here in paris (well ok they bring 3 palm trees and a few long chairs and they call it a beach, poor us.... ahhh if only they could bring a few camels instead ! ;) ) !

yo JT, this is looking really great. Everythin on it is friggin fantastic, except for one thing ;). I think the nostrils on the nose look way too simular to the ears. I'd recomend changing them to look more unique from the ears. Other than that I love it. This is really great.
Now comes the burden ! (it's about time..)
You're right zro-1, maybe the nostrils are too similar to the ears, i have to think about that one. :)
