I really like that shader :)

and the modelling is coming on well, I'm no expert on car modelling though :)

It's still kind of hard to judge if the shapes are right... Too early in the modeling. Keep posting!

What technique are you using to model this car? Is it polys or NURBS?

Shading is really good!
What software do you use?

I use poly's. The guy who started the honda s2000 thread showed some usefull stuff.

I use 3Dmax6
The shader is very easy, just one photometric skylight.

The I set up a logarithmic exposure control and use the lighttracer with global multiplier set to 4.

And the map used for the car is just a standard blinn map. Very shiny and about 20% reflection of a raytracer. Inside the raytracer I use an enviroment map.

Nice job dude!

Very nicely done. I'm guessing you've used a splinecage and applied a surface. But you have probably done it panel by panel, I can see on the front door were it curves away from the bonnet. I tend to find it easier to splinecage the whole car and then add the panel details. But whatever works for you. Any chance of seeing some wires for it?

@pete
Thats right, and thats also why I am not very pleased with the result.
The mess is a mess and parts wont fit.

But its my firth time I modeled something "difficult" like this. So I learned a lot from it and thats good.

Well ok, I will post the wires, but im very dont get angry with me, the are terrible ;)

Most of the time I start with a plane.
Then I convert it to a poly.

But I also use a single rectangle spline, converting it to a poly and copying the edges.

Next time im creating a car I will first create the whole care and after that I will cuts my way true I think.
I don't know what's best, I still got to learn a lot. But I know its best to keep the edges in line.

Don't get too downhearted about it, we all have to learn and re-learn! By meshing out the whole car and then detaching the panels imho you get a tighter looking mesh, the problems you have highlighted don't appear as often.

I still say that you have done very well with what you have done so far and it certainly deserves finishing as it looks so good. Little patience and effort and the problems you have now can be overcome.
