haitz 03-03-2004, 05:29 PM i want to take the movement of a moving head in a video (the camera is not moving) and put it on a 3d head...can i do this?really thanks for advice:wavey:

It can be done, its not exactly easy though. Unless you absolutely need to do this particular task I'd probably suggest doing something a little easier first. Basically though, the area of study you need to investigate to find out how to do it is called 'matchmoving' or some actually refer to it as 'digital face replacement' and other terms. I don't know much about it, but I know that it requires 3d tracking software, plenty of pre-planning and lots of setup and tweaking. I hope that gives you a brief start on the problem.

it can be done without specific "match moving" software, and done by hand. Sometimes this is the only way to do it.
To do this by hand (in really general terms) you need to create an exact model of the real head in 3d, so you can align the elements together.
Once you have a "known" (ie your 3d head measured off the actor) you can begin to track and match the rotation of the real head. Then you can link the 2 heads together to inherit the motion of the "tracked" head.

i know that, i wanted to know if with boujou i could make the tracking of the head, and put it in xsi , on a cgi model.if i can, can you asy me step for step or some general issues that could help me in this work?
