hi folks, i just rendered out this image, and i have a couple of questions.
1. What are the light areas in the corners of walls and where geometry meets? I used maya to render with mental ray, with very high settings, 4000 GI, 3000 FG and all the other settings i used very high quality to rid of these artifacts, but they still appear.
2. This image took approximately 46 hours to render, with a single pass. i have a 2.4 gig P4 with 1 gig ram , i understand that the DGS blurry reflection on the floor slows things down considerably, but does 46 hours seem a bit long?

You are right. There is now way you can post a picture here. What we all do is we describe our rendering as detailed as possible and then poeple here give use feedback.

Btw, you have to host images remotely now, check a sticky on this forum for free/cheap sites. Also I was just fooling around with MR final gathering, and raytraced soft shadows caused the image to look horrible, maybe just the way I did it. Also set the FG rays down to like.... something low and check each setting separately. Remember it's affected by ray depth/overall sampling quality/antialiasing/etc. Does the render not have artes when no FG is used? Oh well. Rendertime depends on what's in the scene... I guarantee I could render a cube with those settings pretty fast. (well with my computer... it would take only l ike one day LOL) try using the IMG tags to post up an image, i'll try to help then
