View Full Version : WIP: Cookin' II
AdamT 03-02-2004, 11:06 PM So here's the new appliances in context. The floor material is temporary and I need to add some odds and ends to make it a *little* lived in. Kind of smallish floorplan, but I can't control that. :)

Looks good, very good modeling you got there, but the cabinets are too reflective for my taste, and the back of the stove looks all weird (reflection), and the microwave window looks too small.
Nice job:thumbsup:

Perspective is a little strong, but nice job! Excellent work on the stainless. Specially the fridge... I like the fact that the reflections "wave" giving it that "real world" bent look. You know... like it's been bumped shut a couple times!
Best regards,
Dave

Thanks for the nice comments guys (and Damsel!). RusMan, you're right about that panel behind the range--fixed. I might post an update when I've added some more stuff.

Lighting...A+
Modeling...A+
Surface material...Needs improvement.
Yup, the surface is too reflective. But then again, I did recall you mention that the mats are temp. So hopefully when you update, everything will be superb.

Thanks OperaFan. I'm going to stick with the cabinet material. It's an enamel finish that's very trendy in high end kitchens these days. I wouldn't want it in my house (it chips like mad) but I like it for this.

I respect your decision. After all, YOU are the ARTIST! :-)

Looking good (must be a helluva job to keep clean, though!). The reflections might be a tad on the strong side but on the other hand they fit in with the high class overall feeling of the kitchen, so I wouldn't worry about them. The only thing I think is a bit out of scale is the floor. The boards somehow look to wide for the rest of the setup. Make them a bit more narrow and you should be all set.

great and more...
ok here some personal inputs:
just the cabinet border it looks a little bit larger in this kind of architecture and design that you have... I think the comment about the material of it was already comments, looks to much grainy...
And I follow the comment of crash about the strong perspective... This give a fx of a too small peices in confront of the normal (or reality...)...
(thanks for your comment on my message of yesturday Adam  )
congrats

adamt...very nice to see them all on site...
its very impressive.
my only crit would on all reflections seem to high overall...but dunno if this is a technical reality or not...maybe just a personal thing.
how long does it take to render?
looking good bud...

Adam, modeling is very nice, only crits would be in the actual constuction concept areas.
I believe the pot lights would be even to the front on each side, going along the lines of the ones over the fridge, and something just plain bugs me about the one in the corner not being in the corner instead of off to the side. Also I believe that even though tile is good for splashes, the there should be a counter backsplash anyways, returning at least 4 inches from the counter top, this is pretty standard in any kitchen, high end or not.
I think that since you have a corner cabinet up top, that you could also have one below (where the LaZy Susan would be) and thus bring off a more even look for that spot.
The chrome on the nuke looks a tad plastic, and yea waves are good re reflective surfaces, but a tad less would be better in certain areas.
The light reflections on the potlights seem to give a space between sort of effect and thus could be changed up somewhat to eliminate this.
But yea on the modeling end of things, very nice range, fridge, and nuker, and counter areas. The floor is as you say, and I have no opinion ree the choice of cab finish, as I can safely say that when I was doing the construction thing, I did not always agree with everything the client was going for, but, the client pays the bills so we just do the job :D Good stuff, keep it going

Damn, you're right!

Right again--I was planning on adding that but almost forgot.

It does look a little funny, but if there was a corner cabinet on the bottom it would interfere with the fridge door.

the job Good stuff, keep it going
Thanks. :)
Flingster: render time as-is is about 30 minutes. I'd prefer to have blurry reflections on the fridge and range, but that causes render times to skyrocket to around 2 hrs. Damn that sucks.

then perhaps move the fridge over to the right a bit, putting in the extra cab as a return to go alongside the Lazy Susan, because believe you me, women love the Lazy Susans. :D
anyways, cool stuff, and as always the clients choice, or in this case the designers choice ;) My bad :D

Nice! Nice to see all your appliances in a single environment.
Excellent modeling.

haven't read through all the comments here so I don't know if this one has already cropped up, but the fridge actually seems a bit "short" to me, sort of have the feeling that the ice cube dipenser thingy would be at about my knee level.
