Hi guys,

Is there any way to get an EMDL scene to open in Maya? An animation house has sent me an EMDL file out of XSI, and we do not have a seat of XSI here.

Deep Exploration converts XSI but not EMDL.

Is it possible with the trial XSI version? This is kind of a 1 time thing.

Thanks

Well, maybe you should take that as a hint

Kidding appart, the .emdl is only used for interchanging models within XSI, so i guess you are just going to have to ask them to send a .XSI file, since that is the standard format for going between Softwares....

Or get XSI.

Hmmm...

Assuming I am able to get an XSI file, does anyone know how cleanly deep exploration converts xsi to maya?

I don't know how well deep exploration will convert your file, but if it does not work, there is an XSI plugin for Maya that will let you load your scene directly. Get it here:

There is also an XSI>fbx and an fbx>Maya plugin which also works well. (I can't remember the link at the moment).
