View Full Version : Plz help!!!I need help using deeppaint3d with Max6
nanogirl 03-02-2004, 04:06 AM Okay, so I'm new to this whole gig. I have Deep Paint as a button under utilities in my 3ds6 program, but apparently I don't know how to apply maps or anything. From what I've read it appears to be, oh just open it in 3ds and you can pick a brush and paint. But I haven't been able to paint anything in Deep paint. I do get my model and if I look at channels, there doesn't seem to be a map. Bear in mind that I also don't know much about uv or uvw jazz. What I would really love is a simple step by step on how to from max to deep paint 3d and back into max again. Please help, I really need to modify some textures. Thank you!!! Gina

Well, never done it in MAX6, but i assume it's just the same as it was.
First, u need to assign a material to your object.
Select the object, open the material editor, make a material and assign.
Second, and for starters, the object needs mapping coords.
With the object selected, add a UVW map modifier to it. Select Sphere for the mapping type, and then hit Fit. Afterwards u can experiment with other mapping types, or even switch the UVW map for an Unwrap UV.
After that, try it in DP3D. Think it will work.
If it still complains about not having on what to paint, then, IN deepaint, u can create the map sheets. Search in the help, preety sure it will explain it. Sorry but i can't remember more.
Hope this helps.;)

This is probably a stupid question but is it the demo or full plug in??
I know they did just do a revision of the plug in for Max6 but if it's showing up in your modifiers roll out then that means you have the right one
