5,000! where are they? But seriusly, your off to a good start. I would go through and delete polies where there was a lot of detail that you probably wouldn't notice (some in the hands maybe) and add them to places you will notice like the chest and helmet, it looks awfully jagged. Also you want to be carefull not to do things with geometry that is better left to textures like the pockets on the front, just define the basic shape and leave the rest to textures.

Could also take a few polys out of the ears... seems to be a lot there.

You could just delete the ears altogether. I don't think that it they are necessary (as you can't see the soldier's ears in the reference picture either).

Looks cool though! I'm looking forward to the finished product.

Need to make it flow a bit better (im not one to talk though hehe). FOr 5k it doesnt look very detailed at all, looks almost low poly heh.

The model itself looks good, but 5000 polys seems a bit much for him. I'm sure you could bring it down closer to 3000-3500 without much loss of shape or overall structure. As previously mentioned, the face, hands, and ears could be optimized to lose alot of polys.(unless you're planning on some close ups or lyp syncs or something?). Is the head modeled under the helmet? Maybe you could kill some polys on the back of the canteen or his pouch? And maybe beef up the boots a little. You're headed in the right direction though. Keep it up!

i re-modeled the head for practice and reducing polycount while i'm at it

i want to do some animation with it so i think i modelled it right like this. feedback is appriciated
the head is 738 polies now, the old one was 1640 w/o helmet

and here's the complete model, i optimized the hands a bit and the boots. removed the pockets and accessories for the moment
i need some feedback about the number of edgeloops i need to have for a good bend animation, i know 3 is right what about 2?
do some limbs need more then others? and what about the shoulders?

3200 polies
