Hopefully the free webspace works...knowing how well they do...ignore all the random other photos/text there, it's a default sitebuilder webpage.

software: 3dsmax
time: about 1 hr, spline modeled then converted to mesh
need critiques on: anything, but mostly how to make the face more feminine. The breasts are also driving me nuts. I know what they should look like - being a girl - but like I want to make the character in her pre-teens to mid-teens, so tell me if they look too small/big/whatever.

the face dosnt look very feminen to me. maybe its just me tho. and you can see a crease down the center of the model but i think you prolly just havnt gotten to that part yet.

Nice work so far. There are two things that I think are making the face not so feminine. The lips, especially the top lip, needs to be worked on. The angles of the top lip need to be more defined, and you'll want to put in that little notch from lip to nose, it helps for getting that curvature right. Then the nose. raise the bottom part of the nose, and angle it upward, so the nostrils are more exposed in the front persp. Maybe make the chin a little pointier too... especially for a female witch.
The collarbone/etc area (suprasternal notch) looks awesome, breasts do too. I'd widen the abs and put in a little inward crease inbetween the breasts, but lower near the abs, to define the ribs there. For just trying out cg, that's awesome modeling, keep it up!

Mmm just found the link to other shots and wires. The top of the head needs to be raised (eyes should vertically halve the head), and widen the jaw a bit. Wires look really good, you've been studying face topology a lot.

Keep it up!

tried to fix the face...very frustrating to do the nose.

attempted to make the beginning of the hips, I think maybe I need to turn them out and forward a bit

I haven't worked really on the profile view of the girl, so there may be some problems with the face and stomach when viewed sideways. Some smoothing issues also are a problem on the face. I am going to make her chubbier later.

Please critique, especially the wires and making the face more feminine, I may animate this girl later...if I ever finish her...looks so bad right now...x.x;;;;

oh, and btw, about if I should make her chin pointier, etc. to be more witch-like...by witch I mean like...just the clothes...girl will look normal....hopefully eh:(

sorry if this pic is too big, someone told me to post a ref pic....I don't really have one but I quickly sketched out something with a pencil and sharpie...eh ignore all the proportion problems and shading crap...I did it in 1 min 9 sec (yes I timed it, my mom was yelling at me to go do my calculus)
I know it's not much or anything like the model I have now but basically the costume will be a plain robe and the hair will be straight (or slightly wavy).
I'm trying to not be too post happy ;) so I'll try to only post when I have the front complete...

this body has been skewed a little b/c someone told me proportions were off, I just moved the vertices down some. I'll fix the breasts and making everything slightly wider later.

Nice work on the improvements. As far as the proportions are concerned, try lowering the crotch a bit. The face is looking good, but you need to shape the rest of the head and jaw correctly... I had this problem too, and when you make a couple changes, it makes it look so much better. Focus on the temples, corner of jaw (maybe it's there, lighting doesn't show it), etc. And the whole body should be about 7 1/2 to 8 heads when you put the feet on her, so that's good. Might want to put in temp ears so you can get a feel for the skull/head around that region, looking more closely the head doesn't have a mastoid process or that area below and behind the ear, sticks out there, then it starts curving. Very good lips and eyes. Keep it up!

I restarted the head and body, but the face is still wrong and the breasts are too big. Please critique on facial proportions and how to fix the face shape. It looks too much like Joan of Arc even tho I didn't use the tut.
