Hi All,

I know this is going to start a debate but I have to ask.

I am going to be shooting a low budget production with a sony vx2000 that involves a bit of keying.

Now as this is DV I am aware of the 4:2:0 issue (PAL) with the picture but I am not sure which colour is best to key. Blue or Green?

I will be using the Rosco Matte Chroma key paints.

I look forward to your responses.

Grant

Hi there,

green will typically give a better matte, because green is overrepresented in DV, compared to red and blue.

However, you may find that there is too much green in what you want to shoot, making blue a better choice.

Bottomline: DV likes green better than blue. But your subjects may be to green for green. -Check that. ;)

Cheers,
- Jonas

Thanks for the answer. I have ordered the green paint and we'll see how things go.
