hi, your model is ok, but this type of objects is perfered to be nurbs not subdiv.

anyway, u have problem in rending it, try to raytracing, i dont want 3ds max people to think that maya people dont know how to make there models look cool.

or even try radiosity, its alos helps u in presenting your work to your clint.

I think the thing that gves it away is the overly rounded corners, if you are using LW then you can paint weights to sharpen up the corners. you can also up the number of controll verts along the edges to take the beziering (poor guy got made a verb) out along the edges. Although this subject may be better suited to nurbs it is quite possible with sub-whatevers. The project TVR was a beautiful example so dont get too put off.

Cant remember if i said it (Think i probably did) the last bits of work you posted were awsome.

hi guys i just try to model it like a real object. here is a real photo .
subdivision is a powerful modeling technic why i dont use it? its much better than nurbs

nice OBJ!...i'v heard that maya is weak in modeling industrial things!...but now i think D-ferent (Šapple?!)
& yes SubD is a far way ahead NURBS.

p.s.: torshi litteh nakhor, torshihaye dige eshkal nadareh!

Well.. SubD's are different than Nurbs. -- Or rather... SubD's are *almost* a different way of working with Nurbs but not quite either. -- They aren't as smooth as working with nurbs when it comes to industrial product design. -- The reason is basically all nurb curves are more or less Vector equations that can be scaled and are infinately accurate. -- They can be fed into CNC milling machines and other machines where you feed the model in.... and it spits the model parts out. --- SubD's often have unnecessary info that is not of use to the machines that manufacture the products... and aswell the geometry is not "infinately precise". ---- That is not to say though that you could not model a piece perfectly with Sub D's... you can..... It would never be used for actuall product design though beyond concept. -- In the end... it has to be of solid nurb design for the manufacturer to understand.

you should work on your lighting. the composited model doesn't match it surroundings. also, like what was said before, product design is done with nurbs generaly.
more detail is always good too.
