Hi, I've worked some more on the girl I posted a while ago. Basically everything has had some more attention to it. The previous thread can be found here (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=118628).
I'd like to know what you think. I hope it's not too cute for ya, with the flowers and all. ;) The purpose with this was not to achieve something photo-real, but more something believable, so consider that if you comment on it, thanks.

Something that really bugs me is the hair. I cant see the hair straws...
Anyway, nice work:thumbsup:

Thanks!
pantheransl- thanks, but I just said that it's not meant to be realistic. How can the earlobe be too big then?

Please people take this for what it is and not for what you would like it to be. Think of it as a celshaded cartoon perhaps, but with a lot of nuances.

Cheers though.

Hey.

nice I like it. Very softish looking render and the lady is well modelled and dare I say quite belieavable - the hair is a tad flat but I take it that its been photoshopped on? You could lose the Background though. Takes away from the overall effect. A bluesky? Oh, seeing the other image, this is BETTER. I should add, love your work. Very nice collection on the webpage - saw that a while back.

Nice looking model!

Very nice!
Her eyes are really lovely.
Very very good overall.
I agree with the ears, but it's ok, there r lots of types of ears :)

The only really wrong thing, to me, are her whiskers. Those are the whiskers of a man :surprised

Anyways, congrats!

well i like the feel of it just fine. i think you did a wonderful job, it gives off a sense of calm. like she's some one who would take care of you if you were sick...and yet there seems to be some sort of sadness too. i like it alot.

Hey, thanks a lot for the replys all.
The hair and the eyebrows are made with shag:hair and touched up slightly in Photoshop. It's not easy to get a good result though I think. Maybe I should try another haircut that is easier to do in 3d.
For software I used Max5, Brazil, Photoshop and Photogenics for making the hdri images.
Q_B- whiskers? makes me think of a kitten:) I'm guessing you mean the hair by the ear though.
Here are some wires for you:

LOL i said whiskers not whiskas! eheheh cat food!

And yep i've checked, whiskers is definitely "suiças" in portuguese :) , meaning the hair near the ear allright!:applause:

Too manly! Don't u think?

hehe, ok. I think that the hairs on the nose of cats are also called whiskers.

she is really cute, nice and clean modelling!

oooh, she is so pretty! I remember the old version.. really glad to see you keept working on her! love the eyes.

the hair(btw, I'm sure you hate the ppl who comment on the hair by now, so I will do it :D ) looks out of style with the rest. it looks like it's just ONE layer of hair, no depth to it. more layers of hair, maybe a few strands standing out here and there would help alot.

and the keylight comes in from the left, but I cannot see the hair casting any shadows on the face, or at the hair-roots. which adds to the "pasted on" feel, to the hair.

but I know how boring hair tweaking can be at the speed it usually renders.. the haircut is fine though, I would keep it if possible. but if you cannot get it to look better I would consider changing it to something that's easier to do in 3d.

but I really really like her! it's not often I see a girl in 3d that I find attractive, good job!

neox, fellah...thanks a lot!

fellah- I think you're right about the hair, with the layers. I might try to do something with that later.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it.

thanks,
hmm...well for three stars you will only get the short version, sorry;)
The eyeshader is not very complex. It consists of diffuse, bump and specular maps for the inner sphere, wich is slightly pushed in at the iris. There is also just a little transluceny on the eyeball. Then there is an outer sphere, wich is slightly pushed out at the iris and has some hdri reflection on it.

ok, now, 4 stars :bounce:

please, the mat you use ??? (raytrace ?, standard ?)

Rivendale
03-07-2004, 11:58 AM
ok, now if you somehow could get it up to five stars I would prolly just had you the scene files...:p

Just kidding, man. The eyeballs used a Brazil basic material with phong shading and the iris is a standard max material with blinn shading. The outer sphere uses a Brazil advanced material, but could just as well been a Brazil basic.
Here are the maps I used:

it's ok tyio, I didn't mean you.
I just think the starsystem is kinda lame. If somebody votes 1 on this I don't know any other way to interprete it than jealousy. I have a feeling there's a lot of that going around here at CGtalk.
