Hello everyone,

I created a bottle with a spline and then lofted it, but now I want to select only the inner polygons to map that as the fluid inside the bottle, is there any quick way to select them??

greets RRemzie

Hey RRemzi, what about cutting the mesh in half, doing your work on half, and then mirroring the half object when you're done? Hope this helps, maybe show a pic so we can see what you mean. =)

Cutting your bottle in half is a good idea. Once this is done, you can edit the mesh and check the "ignore backfacing" box before selecting your polys.

Mirroring your onject as an instance will probably help you as you work on one half.

If your model is an editable mesh then you can tick ignore visible edges, where you have a Planar threshold, which will select all faces within that angle. Should work fine for the interior of a bottle - just click one of the faces inside and the entire inside of the bottle should become selected.

Also - you can select the segments of the spline at the bottom of the stack that make up the inner part of your bottle and assign a different Mat ID number. Then in the Lathe modifiers settings check the box marked "Use Shape Id's".

You'll now find that the polygons created on the inside have a seperate mat ID correspoding to the one you assigned to the spline. With the added bonuses of being able to select those faces via that ID number and of course being able to increase the amount of segments in your lathe without messing up the face ID/selection.

Hope this helps!
