Hello everyone,
Here is a model that I am working on right now. The idea behind it is a mix of man and machine. C&C welcome please.

Hey, not to be harsh, but I think the model needs some serious reworking. The face is a bit weird, the arms don't look like they would animate to well given the joints you have there, and I'm not even sure what to make of the hands/??.

You need to seperate your smoothing groups, that is why you have such weird lighting going on.

Other than that, I'm not sure what to say. It looks like you've used up all of your polys on the leg thingies. What is the poly count, by the way? Post a wire, and definitely keep working on it.

Hope this doesn't hurt too much, but I thought you'd appreciate that, rather than nothing at all.

Keep at it.

*edit*

I also noticed that the way you have the legs set up, it's nearly impossible for this guy to walk. He can't move his legs far enough forward. Unless you have something planned to animate that, you might want to rethink his lower area.

Ok, I'm gonna be harsh here cause when things are sugar coated it wont ever help u out. Believe me, do ur best model, then ask for people to rip it to shreds, in the end it will be 10x better.

Now on to the c&c....

....Fist off I would dump the entire model. I know u probably put allot of time into it, but if something isn't going well its sometimes better to dump it and start over again, the 2nd one will always be so much better. Second I would go find as much reference as possible for this character. Do searches on google for the armor
and the head. Also go check out Corbis (http://www.corbis.com) for some armor pics. The site is awsome for historical stuff. Also go look up some refs for machine legs or just some plain old machinary to get down something thats alot more functional. And lastly I'd have u go to Secondreality (http://secondreality.ch) and do the head tutorial. It does end up being very high polly, but u should know when to make one cut instead of 3 or 4, but its a great jumping off point and I know many people who use that technique while doing heads. Also if u have a specific look ur going for with the face, try and find a pic of a person that maches ur look as close as possible. Check out FineArt.sk (This site does contain nudity) (http://fineart.sk/) for some refs for heads.

I know some people look down on using refs, but if its already been done, don't try and remake it ur self, go out and find some refs and use that as a starting off point. Don't plagerise and steal others work, but use it as a foundation to build upon.

Sorry for the long post ;-)

Hey guys thanks for your C&C. Harsh but duly noted. That is what I had anticipated. I will repost once the model is ready.
