Hello everyone,
between last night and this morning I did this,
It came out much crappier than what I hoped for (obviously), and the perspective "tricks" to give it that infinite waterfall look weren't as easy to obtain as I thought.
Anyhow, this is it, I'm not sure if to drop it and move on, or work on improving it and ambienting it...
C&C extremly welcome.
thanks

I like the lava shader. I would edit the textures around the lava (brick wall and pool) to give it that hot-burnt look to it though.

I cant really comment on the building, because its alittle too far away. Maybe submit a close up of the front of the building?

Is this for a game, still, or animation?

the thing about this image and alot of other drawings that escher have done is that it is only possible from one angle, if you rotate around you'll see that the parts of it dont reallly meet but only in this angle. nice work btw, whats with the lava? wasnt it water originaly?

Pretty much everything Escher did is impossible. That's what makes it so interesting. For those of you unfamiliar with the piece, you can see a small pic of it here (http://www.worldofescher.com/store/P14.html).

This looks like a pretty good representation to me. Looks like you've got a great start. I agree with Denniz on the surfacing, but I thought it might be worth mentioning a couple of other things too.

The lava is too "hot", yes, the pun was intended. ;)

It looks like you've added a glow effect to the lava, but it's spreading our far enough to overwhelm large portions of the brick walls. You might want to cut the radius of it down to where it's much tighter on the stream itself.

Another thing is that I don't see any actual shadows anywhere. The lava should be casting light in a way to create some really interesting shadows. One place I really noticed this is the tops of the towers, where the starburst structures are. There's no shadows being cast down by the starbursts and there are no no shadows being cast up by the lava. It also seems like there should also be some red/orange light being cast by the lava, but the overall lighting looks fairly blue.

For what it's worth...

awesome job!
That is not an easy image to pull off, and you've done a fantastic job at doing so.

The lava is a nice touch. :)

very nice it is indeed! I'd suggest a little more contrast to accent the shape of the building, its not as obviously an illusion as the original drawing is, as it's much more difficult to make out the shape. Changing the background color would improve this matter also. ANd maybe reducing the glow a little.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I have not yet put any shadows or proper lighting and yeah the lava does glow a little too much, but it was half a rushed thing to see if the whole idea would work out.
Tomorrow I might ambient it like I wanted to.
The blue light was just a small light I put cos the lava glow wasn't enough.
Thanks again!
