View Full Version : Capturing and editing in YUV without converting to RGB?
fr3drik 02-26-2004, 01:13 PM Is it possible to capture, edit and export YUV DV video without having to convert to RGB color space?
If so, what software is required/recommended?

I was mainly interested in editing/cutting in YUV. But it just came to my attention that Premiere Pro is internally YUV. Which is actually great. This means I can capture from tape into Premiere, cut video and export to tape without having to do any color space conversions.
All earlier versions of Premiere had to convert all YUV into RGB since it couldn't handle YUV. This meant loss in quality at least twice when 1) capturing and 2) exporting.
When it comes to post/fx apps, I assume most (highend) apps can handle YUV...?
