Hello, could anyone out there help?

The company I work for is thinking about moving over to Maya 5 but there seems to be a number of issues regarding graphics cards. Some work fine (GeForce 4 ti 4400) others (GeForce FX 5700 Ultra) give garbled displays that make Maya unusable! Both have the latest drivers. Is there some sort of “safe graphics card list” for Maya, or do I need Maya specific drivers for each problem card.

Thanks for your Time!

Alan

Just to make this problem a bit more “interesting” I’ve heard that ATI cards are more problematic than Nvidia ones when it comes to Maya, is this true or is it just scare mongering? Cheers.

Alias have a list of certified graphics cards right here: Alias Maya 5.0 Qualified Graphics Cards (http://www.alias.com/eng/support/maya/qualified_hardware/QUAL/maya_50_win.html)

Hi, this may fix the problem for the 5700 Ultra http://www.alias.com/eng/community/downloads/index.jhtml (you must be logged in) go to the drop down menu in the middle and click on plug-ins, then look for the CG plugin. They are in alphabetical order.

P.S. ATI cards are built better for advanced editing and compositingwhere as nVidia cards are better for high-end 3D and gaming

btw... tell me how that plug-in works out

hmmm , i wouldnt be saying that Nvida are better for games. The new radeons spank the Nvidia cards.

But i agree that nvida cards are far better in 3d apps.
