Is that a fish head? I love it! I think something needs to be added around the feet area to establish their position in relation to the rock, especially the left foot. Otherwise, it's looking pretty good.:buttrock:

I like fish too (as a painting theme). they're cold and emotionless, and you can get them to look stupid or menacing easily.

also, they're classical phallic symbols in surreal paintings (Sigmund Freud has left his mark here and there :shrug: )

by the way, thanks for the suggestion on the figure's footing. I had that in mind. the shadow of his legs and feet on the rock behind him are temporary, working-shadows to help me better define the colours of his outline.

if I weren't so busy with exams at university, I'd start painting the chains that nail him to the rock.
