For those of you who sent your serial Intous tablet to Wacom to have its interface board swapped with a USB interface board within the last week and a half you might not get it back as quickly as originaly thought. I just got off the phone with Wacom and they said it is being taken care of and the reason for the slight delay. So many serial Intuos customers recently sent in their tablets to have thier interface switch at one time, thus Wacom is currently having to order more parts for the Serial-to-USB swap. They will be sending your intuos back and filled with the USB interface as soon as possible:) Don't think they forgot about your tablet. God bless Wacom. They barely have any competition and they still offer great support. Who would expect a company to offer upgrades for its tablets? I understand it isn't an upgrade for the means of speed, but for a means of compatability of the serial Intuos tablets with OS X.

Is there somplace that we can get more information on this?
When I switched over to OSX a couple of years ago, I called tech support at Wacom and was basically told my only option was to buy a new tablet.
If I can get this done for a reasonable cost, I'd love to do it.
Thanks.

go to this address
http://www.wacom.com/faqs/knowledge_search.cfm?id=185

at the bottom of the page is a section titled "Alternative solutions for owners of large tablets". Read itto find out what you can do to get your serial intuos back in action under OS X. There is a fee of $164.00 plus shipping. However when you compare that to the price of a new (or for that matter even a used) 12x12 or 12x18 intuos tablet its still cheaper. You just have to make sure your willing to spend the money.
Phyically the most difficult part was shipping the tablet. You don't want to send it off in some pizza box thinking it will arive safely. I went with UPS and was able to get it shipped for about $34.00. I belive that included $500.00 of insurance for the package. If you don't have the original box your tablet came in, UPS has boxxes that will work. They had to cut some of the box off to save me money though. Otherwise I would of been paying much more for a larger dilivery. Hope this helps.

I'm sorry to hear that you tablet isn't under the the conditions of the swap offer. I hope they can get some sort of work-around in the future to get your tablets working OS X.

Is there something wrong with a serial connection on a tablet or is there just no serial connection on a mac? (silly question im sure)

No, there isn't a serial connection on a Mac, and Wacom is not writing drivers for anything but USB for OSX.

Just no serial connection on a Mac, but for some (unexplained) reason a serial to USB adaptor doesn't do the trick for OS X. If it did I would have bought one a long time ago. 9x12 is enough for me, but still too $$$ rich for my blood for a new USB version.
