View Full Version : Sub Suface Scattering
Werner 07-02-2002, 02:19 PM Is there anything available like this for Lightwave? I found one on Flay.com, but the demo (OGO_Hikari_v122b.zip) has a time limit that has ended a couple of months ago. I also heard that Taron
was working on something like this...maybe he can comment on that...that is if he still visits these forums.

sure it does. I would want to test drive it before spending $30 for it...I'm from South Africa, and with the bad exchange rate,...it will cost me about R 300, which is not that cheap for me.
Do you have this plugging Mike...if so, how would you rate it. Is it worth it?
I will tell you I think it's a steal for $30. However, the downside is there is no documentation to speak of and the massive controls are very unintuitive. At least for me. Also, it can render slow, but I equate it to a radiosity, which is also slow. If you really want it, you pay.
I have yet to experiment with baking his SSS solution...is that possible?
OGO_Hikari can also do softshadows similar to Shadow Designer, but not costing $150(US)!!
Also OGO_Hikari can do caustics.
Soft Reflections...
There's a list on flay of 14 ways OGO_Hikari can be used:

I just hope OGO eventually gets some docs done and or optimizes the thing. :)

Its a shader plugin, you load it up as a plugin in Layout, then it will be available under the Shader tab in the surface window.
