well this is my first hand painted texture. Im still trying to work out which methods work best for me, and this texture I know is far from done. But I'd love to hear any thoughts or suggestions on how to make it better.

oh ya. Ive not figured out a good way to do hair. So tips on that would be great!

Could you post the actual flats, so people can give you crits? In those renders, with the lights affecting things, it's hard to tell what's texture and what's not.

hehe weiner warning. That sounds funny.

The maps looks okayish, but we need the flats to be able to judge it properly. Right now I would say the diffuse is a bit samey all over the whole body. Some parts need to be darker. His pectorials seem to be on the long side though.

ok weiner blocker in place. now its child friendly! Did some quick lighting to try and illuminate the texture better. Unfortunately since Im using a blinn shader (so I can use a spec map) I can't just take a screen capture.

It's not for a game, but rather for a crowd scene at a school project. The character is for medium shots only, but I would still like it to be the best it can be. There is one 512 map, and project directors didn't want the characters to be symetrical, so the entire character is mapped out...

You dont really need to blur him out, just next time warn everyone in the title.

Post the wireframe and flats if you get a chance.

It looks like his back could be brought in alittle, it extends from the back of his arm socket in a strange way. Maybe take in the shoulders,rump,and torso alittle bit.

You could leave the rump alone if he's got a booty. ;)

Im not really an expert on textures but it looks like a game texture to me. =) Upon inspecting the texture it appears the ear needs to be moved up and forward =). The top of the place where the ear attaches to the head is aligned with the eye.


Edit: Updated ear position above ;)

Tex looks good to me, but im also not a very good texture artist yet :P

Feet look kinda dark on the bottoms (line there), but that may be lighting.

If your going for just a plain naked guy it looks pretty good :) might be cool to play with giving him some hair (head facial) and maybee some scars or tattoos.

Ear does need to go up a bit, should be a bit above the eyes.

i bet texturing the weiner was a lot of fun. hehe

The skin texture seems to have alot of blotchy colors in it tho.. Kinda looks like when your really coold your skin turns all diff colors.. or something ?
