Pinionist 02-22-2004, 10:41 PM I've recently bought Cunningham's Directors Label DVD, on which there is an interview with Chris and Bjork, on making of All is full of Love video. Also, I've watched latest videotutorials from Softimage, on one of them Aaron Sims is showing his fantastic models of Terminator TX. Well, that's inspiration; I want to create a still scene, with two robots kissing each other, but not in the way those two bots in Bjork video does. I want to make them a long tongues and make this 'kiss' very perverse and erotic. So I want to go more in industrial design direction, something like Aaron's TX. I'll propably would not texture map them, I think that camera mapping with photoshop painting would do the job and make the process easier.
This was done in Softimage|XSI

I like your updates and the exploded view... So far, I like the artistic touch and feel in your avatar better than the robot, but textures and lighting can do wonders. Looking good.

Lips is the ones I need to tweak more, I'm aware of that.

I like the idea-and I like the designs-except for the 'human' parts of the robots. I think it would be ALOT 'scarier' (im just assuming that you are doing this for a kind of shock value) if instead of human lips, covered in skin-u did some sort of 'pseduo-cyborg' thing, but with more 'skeletal teeth' than lips. Like the Terminators Edno-skeleton.
Also-I would drop the all 2 human eyes, and go with something more robotic...
The reason for these crits, is that it is going the way of a human wearing a mask-which i think will destroy the images and feelings that u are trying 2 portray.
Another route u may want to go is have a human, kissing a robot. I think that would be a very powerful image about the merging of technologys....

After speaking to two of my friends (two lovely girls), I've decided to, yes, do a kissing robots, but same model of robot kissing it's copy. I want to put into them as much emotions as it's possible - don't fool yourself with human eyes, I plan to give them very cold, robotic appearance.
Also, recently in order to get some more inspiration and references, I've watched Ghost In The Shell (I guess Innocence 2 made me doing it), and what I noticed, that Motoko, although her apperance is very human, when you watch the movie you feel this cybernetic power inside of her. This made me wonder how to put human emotions in cold metal, steel and mechanics (the way I want to do my bots). I want to put more my ideas, which are, I confess, mix of All is Full of Love, Terminator inspirations, as well as Ghost in The Shell and so on.
For now need to start building rest of the body.
