francoistarlier 02-22-2004, 11:55 AM Last year I made a character, but the mesh was really really really bad :

so I decide to remake the entire mesh (for animation). so I put more detail. and design what would be muscle without to much detail. cause it must still cartoon !

so what do you think first about the mesh. and do you think I should show up the muscle ?

yo francois, you have to improve your charachter but you're on the good way :p

I don't know how should I do the arm and the hand. I mean shoud I spin the arm and make the hand facing down or I don't spin the arm and the hand will face the axe Z.
What should I do ?http://studio-tarlier.com/francoistarlier/misc/cgtalk/bras.jpg

Personally, I model hands facing out rather than down. When the hands face down, the forearm is already twisted, which can make it a little tricky to control mesh deforms when you're turning the hands (unless you're clever which, frankly, I'm not!)
Just my suggestion, and bear in mind that it's a combination of wqhat you're comfortable with and what the animation you have planned will let you get away with - this is a cartoon character, so you can "get away" with more than modelling a photoreal figure!
Good luck with it - it looks good. Can't wait to see the fellow's head!
