View Full Version : 3dsmax6, Mray, GI and faint shadows

Hi!

Does anyone know how to make shadows stronger when using Mray and GI in 3dsmax6?

Look at the jpg. I want more shadows inside the red cirle there from the chair (and other places as well). I am using all default and final gather.

Even tried to:
- increase the number of photons
- decrease the size of the photons
- increasing the shadow intensity
- tried with both common light and photometric

...and no strong shadows.

Without the shadows, the chairs seems to float. There is some shadows though but way to light.

I can't speak for this circumstance, but when using an HDR with MR in max 6, floating occurs(and banded artifacts sometimes) if you haven't used the min and max radius settings under final gather. If you check both of their boxes it may rectify the problem, it does with HDR. Just a warning, your render times will likely double with the default settings. Not sure if this will help, but it is worth a try.:shrug:
