Can anyone give me suggestions as to rigging in cinema 4d.

it appears that the books that come with the program are virtually all there is.its a good program , but they dont seem to care much for the American user over at maxon. there are several good books , but in german. And yes i know about the leg tut, and the crappy American books with bad reviews. But is there anything else. Specifically I was wondering about the following. i put a few bones in the arm of a model and used setup ik. how do you limit the chain at one end so if you move the figures hand the whole body doesnt deform? Anyway maybe some kind souls would find it in their hearts to post some noob rigging tut for the new cinema users.i have version 8, but im getting nowhere with rigging. Wish someone could help. maybe just rigging a simple character. Anyway thanks for listening.

Hey Cafe,

I am currently developing a system that canbe installed into any biped rig. It is called Stray CAT.

I am going to be asking around 50 dolars for the system.

If you want some further info go to http://129.125.101.174/c4dportal/straycatmovies.asp

There are some movies that slouchcorp made on the setup process. The system is finished although we are waiting for the administrator to get back from vacation so that we can follow through with things.

Avoid using MOCCA to rig (IMHO!) MOCCA2 is great for the cloth engine tho.

mocca 1 is very difficult and with only SIK its not ideal for most rigs, mocca 2 is much better still not ideal as its only 3D IK with come clever control over top to act more like 2D IK.

CDIK is a great solution, if you need movva 2 can do whatever you need, but you better be a seriously experienced rigger to get much out of it compared to much simpler solutions like CDIK.

for whats its worth, very few consider that mocca 2 is only a 3dIK system, and in that respoect its a very stable and powerful 3D IK compared to most 3D IK solvers out there.

You can download the CDIK rotate plane solver for free from his website. In my opinion, it's much better for character animation because it faster, more stable and easer to setup. Just using it alone makes C4D much easer to rig with.
