your riffle miss a lot of detail and the lighting is not great but however it's a very good start if u just start 3d keep going
and search for tutorial and stuff like that progress

You could make this a million times better by adding area lights with shadows with a small amout of light in a circle around the model. Then learn about texturing there is a good one on 3dtotal.com if your using MAX. Add some bumps and make the color better. More metal like. Make the material have lots of specular highlight but next to no glossiness.

Looks pretty accurate to the movie. Always liked that gun (aliens is my favourite movie). Love the sound it makes to! You know there's a real-life rifle that's very similar. The H&K G-11, it fires caseless ammo (not explosive tipped though). It fires a 3 round burst at 2100rpm :surprised:

Damn Aliens 5 needs to go back to old school, none of these damn big baby looking aliens, yuk!

Nice model, really bad materials. 3d studio right? There are a lot of default materials in 3d studio. try playing around with them. And you should definitly try a raytracematerial! You'll get far better pictures and it only costs more time render.

Thanks for the critics, new render is in work.

Uzum3D: No the "lipsticks" are grenades which can be fired with the undermounted launcher.

ok heres the new render, now ist is much brighter, and i changed the materials a bit:

Much better but as i said before their is no real material that is smooth as the illusion you are displaying with the material you have on the gun now. Add so bump at like 25 with the smallest amounts you think neccesary. The bump should be barely noticable but trust me it will add TONS of realism. It took me awhile to realize that myself. I always thought how ugly bumps would look you want it to look smooth right! Just small levels and adding some specular levels of reflection will go along way. TRUST ME
