hey,

not sure but i can not find anything in the dics (speaking of maya 2.46).

is is possible to get the color value of a single defined pixel (e.g. x/y = 100, 12) in an image to use in expressions like for the ColorX node? (and i dont mean to use a crop or something. i mean in an expression)

like:
get pixel 100,12 from image1 and assign that color to image2

cheers

Just to clarify, do you want an integer value to drive other parameters with, or do you wish to fill an image with the colour sampled at that specific pixel?

you can use the color tracker to watch a pixel or group of pixels and snag it's color, it's bright or dark and it's average over a range of frames.

whoa.. oops.. for some reason I was thinking you were talking about shake.

wow, wrong.. :)

and I was doubly wrong - in shake it's the pixel analyzer (not a color tracker...bah!)

Anway, before I drift further off subject, I'll leave now..

hehe..

no no.

it is like having the pixel values via script if possible.

like when i am working with colorX e.g. and enter as a red expression:
rnd(x)
i get vertical stripes.
when entering
rnd(y)
i get them horizontaly..

so since there is a way acessing x and y with that function i was wondering if there is a way as well to directly adress or querey pixel values in an expression like that as well?

thanx

So what you meant by "get pixels" was actually to "write pixels" or "put pixels" onto the screen?

hmm.. both.
but mainly something like
getPixelColor(x,y)

cheers

Sounds like you need the SDK for that.. :hmm:

check out the lightning script on highend.
there are commands that can be used, but i can not find any documentation in the manuals about that :/

Yea that's a pretty cool script. I'm sure the docs you need to do that comes with the SDK, however ;)

ok.. checking for a reinstall

edit:
not really. there is only a small pdf as a documentation :/
