Hi All,

I am trying to make this realistic looking pizza crust and texturing the "bitten" part is really challenging. I have lots of reference and I still not able to mimic teh real look.

Has anyone made this attempt before?

The crust looking descent, but the bread part is not suppose to catch shadow that much. It's surface is so rough the light travelling inside it and almost make it look translucent. Bump didn't help much, I have played around with diffuse and lumination as well.

Perhaps someone can direct me to brighter path?

Thanks

I think you are getting there... have you tried using SSS, as it would definitely apply to this material. It would give you the look you need.

Thanks,

SSS washed most of the detail pretty badly... It got rid of the shadow on the "bitten" part which I intend to achieve but the crust look like plastic then.....

I wonder if I can invert the function of Dirtmap plgins so instead of darkening the shadowed part it lighten up.

You are very close.

Your replica looks like it has sheen to it, something I do not recall the real thing having.

Change from phong to Blinn shading.

Blinn is for rough surfaces.

You are very close, I would like to see the final project and any other progress you make along the way!

Heck, do a tutorial on making bread in cinema, as I have yet to see another render like yours!

Hey! Great work so far!

I still think you can use SSS if you tweak the settings. Maybe change the minimum value from the default .001 and the depth.

good luck, and keep us updated.

Yes, sss is adjustable- but make the crust seperately to have more control. sss has to be the way to go.
