So this is an angel chick that I did for a class at my school.
I think she came out ok... the requirements were under 3k polys.
I did this character about 4 or 5 months ago... my friends said i should post it, so... let me know whatcha think wontcha?
Comments and Ctit's welcome.
well heres the links if any ppics dont work.
nice! i like it alot, do you have any other work we can see?

Good concept, Decent model, great face.
but i feel the choice of uhm attire takes away from the character.
the textures on the robe, arms, boots, wing and gun are interesting and intricately detailed. But the skimpy thong and lack of shadind on the breasts seems out of place.
The belly and chest of this chick use up substantial real estate on your texture map yet there really isn't that much detail. Put an interesting corset or maybe some kind of tatoo, but do something to add some interest to this area.
Skin alone doesn't sell.

very cool !
maybe you could make the slip a bit smaller! haha.. great one!
and possibly smooth her breasts?!

the model is good, she probably animates well, and the texture is ok.
The breasts look a bit to "dodgetooled"
The major thing I see is with the chardesign. Her face, looks like a face of a child. I donīt want to see a child with overtuned breasts and a thong killing deamons from hell. I can see what you are aiming for but I think you missed it.
The torso also seems a bit long to me

I think you would start to see part of her "junk" if her panties were that low...

I like the character design! The model itself is REAL "jagged" looking. Is there some polys you could move around to give her alittle more depth? She looks like a paper cut-out right now. It may just be just too much detail strechted over a 3k budget. A higher poly version would be interesting also.

haha - well i gotta disagree with big D, the character design seems...well, frankly, immature. She's hypersexualized, not stylized, and just looks silly. Rather than "this is a cool way to interpret the female form" it comes across as "look at those boobies! man alive those are some boobies. And don't forget the hoo-ha down there!"
The majority of the textures seem to be taken straight from photographs, and the UVs have some major distortion. The amount of detail visible seems too low for 3k tris, and the face structure seems a little off to me (could just be the smooth shading though). You could really use some alpha mapping on the wings as well.
That said, this could be a very cool character without too many major changes. Think about what you are trying to accomplish, and how best to go about doing it. There are a lot of great tutorials on these forums for laying out your UVs as well as painting the textures themselves. You may find that using bits and pieces of photos is more successful than using large sections. Study your proportions a little bit more - think about ways to stylize the character without assigning her the proportions you might find in a teenager's sketchbook. Best of luck!

Well you all seem to have differing oppinions...
I do appreiciate all of your comments... and critiques, considering you have all been in the field longer than I, I will take them gratefully.
Now, to explain myself as not to seem as a shovanistic pig.
Not styleistic?... hmm you are entitled to your oppion, and I am entitled to completely and fully dissagree.
I think shes full of style.
Also, this character was my first. The first attemt at texturing, and I was having fun with it.
YES LOOK AT THOSE BOOBIES!, there is no underlying message to be portrayed here. Its all fun, and I had fun creating her.
Realistic, is best kept to real life.

I think your missing the point m8. Nobody is saying that you didnt have fun doing her and like you said, its your first char and thats just a part of the learning process.
If it would be so easy to point out what style is then we all would be kickass artists.
The difference between adam and me trying to tell you where she doesnt look "stylized" (wich is also a personal thing) and you, is that you just bluntley put it like this "I think shes full of style" ... but you cant tell us why and we can point out to you why and where she doesnt really fit in.

Actually I liked the design because its a angel with a cape and western pistols lol. To be honest the thong and gravity defying breast harness are well, yea kina overboard. I tend to overlook those type of design choices because most of this industry is sex-starved pervs, adam. But I didnt feel that it was my place to comment on his...apparel choice. But since we are on the subject, she would look better in something less revealing than a 2mm thong.

well for a first character its pretty damn good - i remember my first character :) it sucked ass!!! I would say just think about the feedback you got here and take it into consideration on your next model - you clearly have talent, and I think everyone would like to see more characters from you. When you've been in/following cg art for a while, you start to get a little bored with enormous boobs because they're on every other character, thats all; keep at it, and definitely keep being a part of this community.

I guess I did take it a little personally there for a sec,
Like I said before... I do apprieciate all of your comments and ctrits, especially the crits.
And believe me when I say that I will consider them in the next draft the the angel chick...
as for a game char... shes got some obvious aparrel problems... but HEY, LOOK AT THOSE BOOBIES!

Ditto to what everyone was saying about the map design and all but I will tell you that you did a nice job on modeling. Especially the dynamic silhoutte and styling you have(something I need to work on as well). I actually think you texture takes away from your model quite a bit. But your model captures that female comic book style which can be hard to get in a 3D game models. I see a lot of great textures, but most of the models I see lack that charm. I think some modelers get too caught up in getting perfect proportions that a lot of female models end up looking all the same and it's the texture that distinguishes them. But I'm rambling! Good job on the modeling!
