I think the vote page need to have links to the pictures, not the threads of the challenges. Currently I have to wade through all the thread to see the pics. And what about voting directly on the viewing page?

fxgogo in time, and as for the pics on the voting pages, I will tend to that matter later, I just needed to get something up... Also if you hadn't notice the names in the voting threads are clickable, and you'll see there final images

Ehm... you've linked to an old image of mine. :(
You've taken final1.jpg instead of the really final
pic, which is here:
http://arctic.unitedforcesofseed.com/contest/final-rendering.jpg
Could you plz change this? I would be really glad to show my
REAL pic and not some wip
Good luck to everyone :thumbsup: :wip:

Although the_hand's was the most impressive i feel that Faeroon got the feel of an Enchanted Forest down perfectly.Partly because LOTR rules:beer: Awesome work.

@OrestesMantra:
Ehm... I'm... hm... I've....thank you..:blush:
If just one person likes this pic, the work of 4 weeks
and the struggle with the very first full maya scenery
was absolutely worth it... thanks for those kind words *touched*

Faeroon,
Nice work there, man! Is that Maya? Wow! I need your permission to use it as my personal wallpaper for the time being.

@OrestesMantra:
Hehe... my first model ever in Maya was the tree
that I've modelled first for the contest, everything
came after that (and was mainly try&error *g*)
I've worked really hard to get the pic finished until
30th June, just that I can say "I can work under pressure"
I'm really glad you like it
@wireframe:
Yep - everything made with Maya, no plugins, no external stuff.
Only pure Maya and some PaintFX :bounce:
If one tries and tries and tries and... yep... I think anyone can
do ANYTHING with maya, 'cause it's such a nice full package
- look what a newb got :)
(*commercial off* - and NO I'm not beeing paid by A|W :D *G*)

I have to ask dobermunk, why did the render come out so bad. It looks like antialiasing was turned off. I really wish you would have fixed that and some compositional elements cuz i liked ur piece and idea a lot. :buttrock:

I agree:thumbsup: also I think that the thumbnail should be the same as the final image and you could possibly have a link to their thread underneath the thumbnail. This way you have the option to look further if you wish.
Also with the voting, the names could be arranged by number, order of entry, or by name. This would make voting easier. I am not sure about this but I think you could vote for everyone if you wished. I think that this would lead to an unfair win, with some people placing only 1 vote and others 20. I think the votes should be restricted to 3 votes in total and even consider placing a value on the vote, i.e. 1st 2nd or 3rd.
The more painless and quicker the voting process is, the more people will vote and want to come back and vote. Nonetheless cgtalk people have done a great job, keep it up:thumbsup:

i hate to say this again, but although lxstalker's image is breathtakingly awesome, it has very little enchantment value, and while that is the criteria to be met, i dont see how it could win when there are many others that are more enchanted. i hate to say this mainly because i dont have an entry in here, but still i just think everyone else got chumpchanged. great job btw lxstalker :drool: :buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:

Hm... I dont mean to upset someone..but I have to agree with AroundTheFur. I think LXStalkers pic is AWESOME and the lightning is really great but there are other pictures which are more enchanted. :-/ I for my part think that faeroons image looks really nice :) Good luck to everyone

@xyron & aroundthefur:
my english is not so good and i had to use a translation tool for "enchanted". What came out was "verzaubert".
Which in german language can also describe a feeling.
So i tried to do something which transports this feeling first instead of adding props which forces the picture to be enchanted.
For me, "enchanted" can be a very subtle feeling and has not neccessarly something to do with tons of elfes, dwarfs and little houses...
that´s my opinion. you are free to have a different one. ;)
Cheers,
Faeroon

Yep LX - I think you got a point here...
Sure, enchanted (oder verzaubert für unsere deutschen Freunde *grins*)
can mean anything for anyone.
I'm in awe for your lightning techniques and.. yeah.. I think
its a great image!
On the other side I'm a bit grumpy about the fact that
many ppl have tried to get a "real" enchanted forest, worked
hard to get a magical and maybe "fairy-tale" feeling into it
and now most of the people dont look after that criterion.
Many ppl modelled after that, took a whole lot o' time in it and
now noone looks at them. *shrugs*
Maybe its my fault that I didnt understand the contest text
right, but if I would have known that it isnt even necessary
to have any forest in the pic to satisfy the readers, I would have
modelled something else... :surprised
I thought the main point of this contest was to hit the real
goal, to make a forest, with trees, with something in this forest
that makes it unique - this was my first contest (with my first post
here at cgtalk), I had fun with it, really great fun (and between
the fun there was the pain of the DAMN PaintFX - svenip should
know of what I talk *g*) but if had known that no real forest
is needed, I won't have spend so much time modelling it (i tell
ya - that wasnt an easy task for someone who never modelled
with maya before :p)
I really like the entries, I admire MANY of you and I will be into
the next contest, but next time I will know some things...
Plz, dont take that wrong, its just my opinion and I wanted
to say it - i really dont see any shame to look at Howard Day,
LXStalker and other folks and call them competition - HEY! I was in
the same contest and ppl looked at my work, even it is that of
a newb - that was worth it :beer:
Sorry for the long post, was just something that I liked to say,
hope I didnt step on someones feet :cool:
