I've never used the event log before, until someone pointed it out on here as being the easiest way to spot problems.

I'm getting the following error in my event log whenever I boot up my machine (I think)...

The device, \Device\Harddisk2\DR2, is not ready for access yet.

0000: 0f 00 18 00 01 00 72 00 ......r.
0008: 00 00 00 00 0f 00 04 c0 .......
0010: 04 01 00 00 9d 00 00 c0 ......
0018: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0028: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0030: 00 00 00 00 25 00 00 00 ....%...
0038: 00 0a 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........

It's listed as event 15, if that means anything to anyone.
Thing is I don't know what the error actually means. I've 'googled' it to find that it can have something to do with Raid Controllers (I have one on my motherboard but it's disabled in BIOS).

I've got two IBM 180 deskstar drives (one 60gb, the other 80gb) set on the same IDE cable attached to IDE 1. I also have an external HD but these errors show from way back before I'd bought it.

Can anyone offer me some advice?

Clear your event logs. See if the error pops back up.

Sometimes the event viewer will log problems that are already solved.

Do this first before investing hours of troubleshooting :).

A gentleman and scholar as always! :applause: :buttrock:
Did as you said Greg and only get Information logs in the Event Log. Thanks for saving my time.
