so there i am starting a new little simple project in maya, saving every once in a while! maya crashes at one point so i just restart maya! once maya is restarted i click on 'open' to keep working on what i was working on! but i get an error message in red at the bottom right of the maya interface. So i try to open other projects for fun, but nothing will open!!! so i try a test and create a new scene with a few primitives and save it. then i do 'new scene', then itry to open the primitives scene i just saved.... no luck!! so i can't work on anything that's has been saved and i can't save anything and come back to it!! SOMEONE PLEASE tell me you know how to fix my little problem!! :( PLEEEAASE!! i last worked with maya a few days ago and didn't do anything different than i usually do.... so for apparently for no reason maya decided to p#ss me off!!!

thanks for any suggestions folks.

I don't know maya that well (ltw user) but the first thing I try on the Mac platform is deleting my preferences file, followed by a reinstall of the application in question. Of course, you might want to try a virus scan... you never know.
Hope this helps.

All I can think is that your maya preferences could be curupt , delete the file from you preferences ,this is in your document and setting \maya \4.0\prefs\ userperfs.mel. You might want to back it up before removeing it. Run maya again it well create a new one. If this does'nt work I say remove and reinstall. Maya is like that works good and then shit. I just reinstalled mine last night. If your new to this just leave your maya folder (document and setting \maya ) alone and your mels perps will still be there .
