Hello otacon!
Good luck on this one!
Is the body a bit long or is the view that confuses me?
Anyway keep us posted!
The frame is pretty long, and the top tube is quite thin, check this out for some reference.

the top tube is not too long if this is a dirt bike. if you have your bike beside you, just use the tape-line and go over all the parts to get right sizes. or if you don't have a bike beside you, go to some online shop, they have all the dimensions (top tube, bottom tube, fork angle etc).
http://www.dim.gr/bike/frames/geometriesbmx.htm - this might be of some help.
good luck modelling the details:)
http://www.hot.ee/miqpilt/ratas005.jpg - it was real pain making all the little details, took loads of photos:)

Can't wait to see it after it's textured... How are you going to do the tire treads?

Thanks for the comments. The frame might be a little long, so i will shorten it a tad, but once some more parts come together it should look right. I got my bike outside, its a volume destroyer frame. I might take some measurements, but i got lots of pics from online, and i put my bike together from the bottom up myself, so i know every detail and how things work.
mihkeltt: Nice render, i think i saw that on here a while back.

Thanks. Yea, its the destroyer frame, its what i ride as well. The wheels are supposed to be alex triple wall...really thick. Still gotta make the primo powerbite cranks, kink sprocket, meat tenderizer pedals....bunch of other stuff as well.

yeah build it like you would build or ride in real life...
OT: i like the destroyer frame, i am a small guy and i can manuveur it pretty nicely. i got really heavy XS 4x4 wheelset, other than that this bike feels like a part of me...
back to topic...
keep us posted

primo hemmeroid(sp?)? or the pentagon? your doing great so far...but that seat isnt up to par...it would fool others but not the bmxers here...
nice to hear about some bmx/cgers, i also ride the destroyer it was a great deal...i have had it for 2 years now, solid as a rock

Its the hemrroid. I suck at modeling anything organic like...thought i could get away with the seat....guess ill have to tweak it some more. Ive had my destryoyer for about 2 years also...its red. What colors yours? Started on some cranks, still have to put the primo lettering on there.

continues to look good...
i have a black frame... i wanted red, but i didn't want a 21" top tube, i am below avg height and that 1/2" as you should know makes a difference :)

Yea, im 6'3" so it fit me fine.
Primo powerbites?
I have those cranks in black, they're good but they've started to creak a bit.
I agree on the seat issue, it could do with a little work to match the quality of the rest.

Ive got silver ones, they creak a little too.
dbeam: didnt see your post earlier...i have a way of doing the tire tread that i learned from the nissan z tutorial. You freeze the subpatch, then stencil the tread on.
Heres a kink sprocket i just finished up...

Looking cool... Are you going to add treads to the tires? I can't wait to see the chain and stuff... It would be cool if you make a muddy version too! Keep up the good work...

Yea, im planning on adding tread to the tires. Today i'll probably try and get the chain done. That would be cool to make a muddy version...i might try it.

nice work so far. How did you create the spocks for the rim. Are they seperate pieces from the rim? Also how did you make the crank. I just like to know how people created they objects. So if you dont mind would you let me know.
otacon
02-24-2004, 03:23 AM
For the spokes, they are seperate from the rim....i just make a cylinder thats the right size in diameter, copy and rotate it around the right amount of times. The cranks...i started with a box, made some cuts, subdivided, molded it into shape by moving points around, then i froze it so i could cut out the holes. Heres the chain i did today. I had to individually place each one of these links.

dude, that looks so awesome. I was never much into bmx (i sucked at it) but I like my mountain bike. (2001 GT Palomar - basic components, maybe 2-3' travel in teh front suspension). It weren't expensive and it has outlasted everysinle other bike I have owned and it get's the most abuse.
It almost seems like the tube that connects the fork to the handle bars should be tilted more
