Hi!
I've never posted here before, as I've been slightly out of practice. But I'm trying to get back into the swing of things.

I know Maya, but in order to advance at my current job, I need to learn 3DStudioMax. :D

So! This is the first thing I've made using 3DSMax. It's an RPG-style house for a healer or mystic (hence the crescent moon window on the side addition to the house). A few too many poly's - 9,189 - that's something I need to work on.

If anyone has any good tips for going from Maya to 3DStudioMax, I'd love to hear them. I really miss the deform tool!

This was modeled and rendered in 3DStudioMax 5, and the textures were created with Photoshop 6.

I would love to see the warm glow of light coming from the windows.... and an herb garden with a cobblestone path going through it. I think you're on to something here. Seems like way too many poly's though... use optimize! Nice concept!

thank you! those are really good suggestions. I think my next project will be an herb garden. Perhaps then I could turn it into a mod for morrowind or something. :)

Hi Megan,

It's coming along really well.

Aye, way to many polys :) It looks like it could be taking down to around 1,500 or so. Can you post a wire?

Suggestions:

Perhaps turing the circular window into a crescent moon window and have some light streaming out? Can make it a little bigger as well. The moon placed where it is currently, next to the window, gets lost.

Light coming out of the windows and some sort of garden, as Z1K0B4 suggested, would def. be cool.

Smoke from the chimney?

looks nice, but that's far, far to many polies for that. The geometry looks fairly simple in itself, it shouldn't take that many polies to do that... probelry no more than 1000.

THe texturing is top notch! :)

Thanks guys, for all the comments. I'm working on optimizing it now, as well as adding those little touches.

Thank you for the texture comment, Sidewinder! That's definitely my favorite part of working on stuff like this. :D
